Customers inform the merchant which credit card they wish to use for the transaction without a physical credit card changing hands. With the new Masa+ digital payment feature, staff and customers skip the tap, dip, or swipe process and complete customer payments in seconds using a unique customer QR code that applies multiple tenders to a single ticket.

With QR Code Fast Pay, customers are always ready to pay for their orders whether at the counter or at their table. ​​Since March of 2020, restaurant owners faced what seems like a lifetime of challenges that have threatened long-standing businesses and livelihoods. Labor shortages impacted the restaurant industry despite an enormous amount of job openings for all job positions in the sector. Restaurant owners and operators personally filled the gaps in their operations by dedicating extra hours taking on a variety of job functions previously held by hostesses, servers, kitchen and support staff.

In 2021, increased demand and a shortage of semi-conductor chips slowed manufacturing production resulting in a backlog of shipments that is bringing supply-chains to a halt at US cargo ports. Specifically impacting restaurants was the inability to obtain equipment that runs the POS technology and solutions required to manage restaurants and serve customers. Mission-critical point-of-sale products such as touch-screen terminals, payment devices, printers, cash drawers, and other components are still expected to face drastic production and shipping delays well into 2022, while dramatically increasing in price.

​PLEASANTON, CA – December 21, 2021 - Aldelo, L.P., developer of the Aldelo Express Cloud POS restaurant technology platform that includes a native suite of merchant- and customer-facing iOS and Android point-of-sale solutions, announces the release of its “Facial AI” login feature. The first application of the technology for the restaurant industry, Aldelo’s facial recognition solution utilizes a standard tablet for securing access to Aldelo Express POS, timekeeping modules used for tracking employee time, manager functions, and cloud back-office.

Use of facial recognition technology has steadily grown in the mobility, security, health, banking, and retail industries. It is the most natural of all biometric measurements because we recognize ourselves not by looking at our fingerprints or irises, but by looking at our faces. Aldelo’s technology requires no physical interaction or specialized equipment for capturing and authenticating users.

​Any restaurant that buys, sells, or charges based upon weight within the United States must use a “legal-for-trade” scale.

NTEP certified scales are required by restaurants when weighing any product and selling it directly to the customer based on the weight provided. NTEP certification provides consumers with the confidence that they are getting what they paid for by requiring a high degree of readability on the scale. The certification also confirms that restaurants are weighing products accurately and not giving away profits.

NTEP stands for National Type Evaluation Program, an approval system created by the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) and the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM).

​​Every customer visit presents restaurants an opportunity to introduce its services for improved and easy access to great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Aldelo is helping Aldelo Express POS merchants do exactly that by providing users with a FREE box of 500 personalized business/menu cards. The custom cards include the restaurant logo, name, and address and a unique QR code that takes customers directly to their online storefront and menu to begin placing orders and/or purchase eGift cards.

Restaurants provide dine-in customers with their business/menu card when presenting guest checks and include cards with to-go, pick-up, and delivery orders. When the cards are running low, Aldelo Express merchants simply request an additional set of 500 cards.

​Forty percent of customers prefer to split checks when dining with friends. * Some guests pay their own way by alerting the waiter before ordering, while other parties load a group bill onto one card and pay back the cardholder after the meal. For those in groups tasked with itemizing a group’s guest check, the process is time consuming and tedious and there are always items that fall through the cracks. The experience is stressful and defeats the purpose of getting together for a fun and relaxing meal.

From family gatherings to get-togethers with friends, both diners and staff are familiar with the infamous “check war.” It is the battle of wills between family and friends insisting “dinner is on them” or they’ve “got it covered.” It is the race to grab the check as soon as the server arrives with the little black book at the table. Typically, the result is a compromise that results in portioning and separating the final check amount. Whether the debate at the table is tiresome or amusing, at the very least, it is guaranteed to happen at least once on any shift.

​There is relief to these scenarios with Aldelo Express’ new physical split check feature for all order types. Servers can accommodate large groups with ease, splitting checks into two, ten, or any number of physical checks from any in-house or mobile printer. Servers effortlessly adjust checks by number of guests or payments, helping guests relax and keep the good times rolling.
